PORTSMOUTH - Head Baseball Coach Ted Tom is pleased to announce the 2013 Shawnee State University Baseball Winter Camp Series, highlighted by the inclusion of two brand new camps to the schedule. The first camp is our Seventh Annual Prospect Camp that will be held on campus at Shawnee State on December 1. The Prospect Camp is open to all players between the ages of 15-21 and will feature a professional style workout administered by the SSU coaching staff with other Division I coaches in attendance as guests to evaluate campers. Most importantly, this is a great opportunity to show the coaching staff what you have to offer as a player while researching our coaching staff, facilities, and campus up close. Cost for the Prospect Camp is $100 and $125 for dual players.
New to the camp schedule this year are our Instructional Camps which will be held on December 21 in the James A. Rhodes Athletic Center and be broken down into a Pitcher/Catcher Camp and a Hitting Camp. The Pitching Camp will be led by former MLB player and Wheelersburg native Josh Newman along with the SSU coaching staff while the Catching Camp will feature two-time NAIA All-American catcher and SSU assistant coach Philip Butler. The Hitting Camp will be administered by 2010 AMC Coach of the Year and SSU Head Coach Ted Tom. These are instructional camps designed to provide fundamental instruction to players looking to prepare and gain an edge going into next season. Cost for these camps is $100 for one session and $150 for both. The Instructional Camps are open to all players 13-21.
Lastly, our very popular Youth Camp will be help on December 26-27 at the James A. Rhodes Athletic Center. This camp is two days of fun and fundamental instruction for boys and girls ages 5-14 directly from the SSU coaching staff and players. Offensive play, fielding, throwing, and pitching will be covered during camp along with other aspects of the game. Cost for the Youth Camp is $60 per player.
