The Shawnee State Women's and Men's Cross Country Team are ready to compete in the NAIA National Championship on Saturday, November 19th in Vancouver, Washington.
The men's team is ranked No. 5 in the Final NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll and is making their fourth consecutive and seventh overall trip to the NAIA Meet. This season the men's team won four meet titles and are coming off capturing their second consecutive Mid-South Conference Championship on November 5th. Shawnee State has finished fourth the past two seasons and are looking to continue their momentum into the NAIA Meet this year for another successful trip. Leading the Bears is junior and MSC Runner of the Year, Galen Dills. Dills led the Bears last season as he placed 29th overall. Also, returning to the NAIA Meet from last year's team is junior Blake Wysocki and sophomore Brad Liston.
The women's team is ranked 17th in the Final NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll and is making their second consecutive and third overall trip to the NAIA Meet. This season the Bears captured two meet titles including their second straight MSC Title. Last season the Bears finished 25th overall and are looking to improve this season as they return the Top 4 runners from last year's squad, including seniors Sara Armstrong and Brittney LiPira, junior Kasey Hosier and sophomore Sarah Ruggles. Also returning from last year's Top 7 runners is senior Brianna McCauley.
The men's race will begin at 10:30 a.m. (PST) with the women's race to follow at 11:45 a.m. PST).
