PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Baseball) – The Shawnee State University baseball program is pleased to announce its inaugural Small School Prospect Showcase Series with a showcase event on Saturday, October 25th and another event on Sunday, November 9th. The showcases will take place at Branch Rickey Park in Portsmouth, Ohio if weather permits. If not, we will move the showcase indoors to the James Rhodes Athletic Center on the Shawnee State campus.
This series is designed to provide the highest amount of exposure at the lowest possible cost we can provide. The Small School Prospect Showcase Series distinguishes itself by inviting all non-NCAA Division I schools from Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, Indiana, and Michigan, along with select other invitations to schools from other states. We will keep a running list of confirmations of schools attending on our Facebook page at facebook.com/shawneebaseball. We will have the beginning of that list up in the coming days and update it as we receive confirmations.
Cost for the showcase will be $30 per player. The camp will consist of a pro-style workout and a brief introduction to the program at Shawnee State University. Registration for camp will begin at 8 a.m. on each day with the showcase starting at 9 a.m. Players can sign up for one date or attend both for a discounted price of $50. Registration and further information for the Small School Prospect Showcase Series can be found at shawneestatebaseballcamps.com. We will be offering team discounts to high schools teams that send four or more players to each event. Please contact the coaching staff directly to find out more about our team discount rates.
Here at Shawnee State University, we take our showcase camps seriously. We have signed players out of our camps every year and of the 32 players we currently have on roster, 10 attended a prospect camp for us in the past. Our showcase camps are run by the SSU coaching staff directly and give you, the player, an opportunity to see how we operate as a unit day in and day out. This is vital information for a player who is serious about his decision on where to continue his athletic and academic career.
