PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Baseball) – The Shawnee State baseball team has been selected to finish sixth in the Mid-South Conference according to the MSC Preseason Coaches' Poll, the conference office released this week.
The Bears finished last season in fifth place after recording a 14-12 record in conference play, to go along with a 33-26 record, overall.
Cumberland University was selected to finish first in the conference after winning the Avista NAIA World Series last season. The Bulldogs received five of the eight possible first-place votes. Georgetown College came in at No. 2 in the poll, garnering the final three first-place votes.
Campbellsville University occupied the third spot in the poll with 34 points, followed by Lindsey Wilson in fourth with 28. St. Catharine College rounded out the top five with 26.
SSU grabbed 20 points in the poll, followed by the University of the Cumberlands (16 points) and the University of Pikeville (eight points), respectively.
The Bears will open up the 2015 season in February, with conference play beginning in March.
