FRANKFORT, Ky. (Men's Basketball) – For the fifth-straight year, the Shawnee State men's basketball team has fielded the Mid-South Conference Champions of Character award. This year, the honor went to Austin Vance – named co-recipient with Campbellsville's Darius Clement – conference officials announced Thursday night at the men's basketball awards banquet.
Vance becomes the fifth straight recipient for the Bears, who have won the award in each season since joining the Mid-South in 2010.
Sean Elliott also brought home some hardware after being named Second Team All-Mid-South. The junior averaged 12.79 points per game, ranked 12th in the MSC. He connected on 42 percent of attempts from the field, which ranked third in the league. Elliott also ranked third in three pointers made and fifth in triples per game.
Finally, junior Seth Young garnered honors Thursday night on the Academic All-Mid-South squad. The Franklin, Ohio, native is a business administration major and current boasts a 4.0 grade point average. Young was one of 24 players on the list, which required a 3.25 GPA to go with at least sophomore academic status.
The Bears are in action Friday afternoon, taking on the University of Pikeville in the quarterfinal round of the Mid-South Conference Championships.
