PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Baseball) – The Shawnee State baseball program has been selected to finish seventh in the Mid-South Conference according to the MSC Preseason Coaches' Poll, the conference office announced on Tuesday evening.
The Bears finished last season in seventh place after recording a 7-13 mark in Mid-South Conference play and an 18-29 overall mark during the 2015 season.
Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), who is the defending Mid-South Tournament champion and is coming off of its first NAIA World Series appearance after winning the NAIA Opening Round – Kingsport Bracket, garnered the top overall slot in the voting, with 47 overall points and five first-place votes. Campbellsville (Ky.), who won the Mid-South's regular-season title, received the remaining trio of first-place votes and grabbed 44 overall points.
Cumberland (Tenn.) and St. Catharine (Ky.) would obtain 36 and 30 points, respectively, to finish third and fourth, while Georgetown (Ky.) took home 25 points to grab the fifth place slot.
Mid-South Conference regular season action will commence on March 11, will open up the 2015 season in February, with conference play beginning in March. The Mid-South Tournament is set for late April and early May at the Bowling Green Ballpark in Bowling Green, Ky.
