WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (Men's Track & Field) – The Shawnee State men's track & field team put together another solid performance, landing 12 runners in the top five in seven events while finishing fourth at the Mid-South Conference Championship meet at James H. Taylor II Stadium.
The Bears 4x800 meter relay squad grabbed one of two top finishes for the squad, as Nicholas McAfee, AJ Barber, Ethan Richter and Noah Bullock combined for a time of 7:58.26, just edging Campbellsville University for the first place finish. Caleb Kennelly also shed in the pole vault, clearing 3.65 meters for the win.
Elsewhere, Barber and Richter each notched top five finishes in the 800 meter run, as Barber came in second with a time of 1:59.06 for a second place finish, and Richter finished with a time of 2:01.03 to come in fourth.
Richter added another top five finish in the 1,500 meter run, finishing at 4:04.00 to come in fourth again. He was bested by Matthew Cheeseman, who completed the race in 4:03.23 to finish second.
Cody Redman was the next top finisher for the Bears in the 5,000 meter run, coming in fourth with a time of 15:49.54. Redman followed with a second place finish in the 10,000 meter run, finishing at 34:23.23. He was followed in that race by David Jaeger and Parker Blain, who finished in third and fifth, respectively.
Finally, Blain and McAfee closed with top five finishes in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Blain came in at a time of 9:59.32 to finish second, while McAfee's time of 10:09.27 was good enough for third.
