PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Men's Basketball) – The Shawnee State men's basketball team has made another addition to the 2016-17 roster, as head coach Jeff Hamilton announced Bryan Rolfe will join the squad next season.
A product of Valley High School, Rolfe was a four-year Southern Ohio All-Conference selection, three year All-District honoree and twice named All-State. In his career, Rolfe finished with 1,362 points. The 6-foot-3 guard led the Indians to four sectional titles, as well as an Elite 8 appearance in 2015.
"Bryan is a great addition to our basketball family. He is an extremely versatile player who has an exceptionally high basketball IQ," Hamilton said. "He sees the floor very well and I'm very confident our guys will really enjoy playing and competing with him. He makes those around him much better players."
A four-year letterwinner in both basketball and football and a two-year baseball player, Rolfe spent his time on the hardwood under the tutelage of his father Scott Rolfe. The son of Scott and Lori – who played volleyball at Shawnee State – Bryan plans to major in Business at Shawnee State. Rolfe joins fellow Valley product Blake Yates (SO/Lucasville, Ohio) on the 2016-17 roster.
"Bryan is a coach's son whose mother played volleyball here so he comes from a fantastically athletic family," Hamilton said. "He will step in immediately and compete for playing time, especially at the point guard spot, but his size will enable him to play multiple positions on the floor. We welcome Bryan to the family and are looking forward to his future as a Bear."
