GULF SHORES, Ala. (Men's and Women's Track & Field) – Shawnee State had three runners compete during the final day of the 65th Annual Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, and made those runs count, as the Bears recorded two top 10 finishes to close out the weekend at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium.
The headliner for the Bears was Sarah Biehl (SR/Lowell, Ohio), who put an emphatic exclamation mark on an already stellar career, as she finished second in the 5,000 meter run, crossing the line at 17:31.36, just behind Karis Frankian of The Masters College. The finish marked Biehl's second top five in this year's national meet.
Megan Ashton (JR/Proctorville, Ohio) also landed in the top 10 for SSU, finishing ninth in the finals of the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Her time of 11:14.90 was just under three seconds off the eighth place finisher, Stephanie Croy of Biola University.
David Jaeger (FR/Liberty Township, Ohio) also ran on the men's side to open the day, completing the marathon in 3:00:09.00, good enough for a 25th place finish.
