PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (Men's Golf) – Shawnee State traveled to Prestonsburg Kentucky, where they competed in the Alice Lloyd Invitational. SSU had three athletes finish in the top 20 after a hot start on day one. Dagan Abdon (SO/Greenup County, Ky.) finished tied for seventh, while Jacob Braskett (FR/South Bloomfield, Ohio) and Brock Faulkner (SO/Waldo, Ohio) (SO/Cardington, Ohio) tied for 13th and 17th place. Shawnee State finished fourth overall as a team at Stonecrest Golf Course.
Shawnee State opened day one shooting 305 as a team placing them third after the opening round. Braskett started his tournament with a 70, leaving him tied for the first spot through 18, while Abdon shot a 74 in round one. Faulkner posted a 79 in his opening round of play, while Logan Sheets (FR/Bidwell, Ohio) finished the day with an 83. Other notable Bear performances include, A.J. Hamilton (SR/Tollesboro, Ky.) who claimed a 78 and Caleb Castle (FR/Morehead, Ky.) with an 86.
The Bears lost ground on day two, finishing shooting 321 as a team. Abdon shot a 75 for a two-day total of 149, placing him 7th. Braskett totaled 84 on day two moving him to ten over, 154. Faulkner improved upon his day one showing shooting a 77 and moving him to 12 over. Sheets finished with a 78. SSU finished the contest +50 as a team.
The Shawnee State University Men's Golf Team will continue their season Monday, September the 19th, where they participate in a two day tournament at Lebanon, Tennessee. The tournament will take place at Windtree Golf Club.
