BRONX, New York (Men's Cross Country) – Shawnee State cross country was back in action on Friday morning, following up a strong showing in the Mid-South Conference Preview with top 10 finishes against NCAA-I schools in the Iona Meet of Champions. The men finished eighth overall, with Adrian Ross (SR/Chillicothe, Ohio) being their top finisher. The women finished ninth overall, behind a top 25 finish from Anna Havranek (JR/Sugarcreek, Ohio)
Ross led the way for Shawnee State, finishing in the top 25 with a time of 26:36. Ethan Richter (JR/Chillicothe, Ohio) was the second Bear across the line, posting a 27:21. David Jaeger (SO/Liberty Township, Ohio) shaved 75 seconds off his previous time, crossing the line in 27:30. Finishing two spots behind Jaeger was Parker Blain (JR/Marietta, Ohio), who recorded a time of 27:37.
The final three Bears featured Cody Redman (JR/Circleville, Ohio) with a 27:56 and the two freshman, Steven Adams (FR/Pickaway County, Ohio) who finished in 28:00 and Owen Reeher (FR/Kinsman, Ohio) with a 28:01.
For the women Havranek finished 22nd overall claiming a time of 19:22, she was the first SSU finisher. Brooke Smith (SO/Wheelersburg, Ohio) followed, crossing the line in 19:59. Alyssa Taylor (SO/Georgetown, Ohio) shaved an impressive 12 seconds off her previous time, posting a time of 20:11, other notable SSU performances include Kate Spencer (JR/Glouster, Ohio) who finished in 20:15 and Katie Saling (SO/Caldwell, Ohio) recording a time of 20:45.
Shawnee State returns to action on Saturday, September 24th when they travel to Rio Grande to compete in the 6th annual Patty Forgey Invitational.
