Portsmouth, Ohio – Shawnee State men's and women's golf were in action on Monday and Tuesday, competing in the Mid-South Conference Fall Invitational, hosted by Cumberlands University. The men would finish in 6th place with an overall score of +23, while the women would finish 9th at +265.
Both teams would find themselves at the bottom of the leaderboards on day one. The men's team finished the day at two strokes back of Asbury for 9th place. Dgan Abdon's +2 (73) would lead the men's scores for day one, tied for 12th overall. Emily Hayes (FR/Pataskala, Ohio) was the best finisher of day one for the Bears women, posting a +24 (96).
The men's team would make a big move on day two, climbing up to 6th place to finish the tournament. Abdon would once again lead the team, shooting just a +1 (72) to finish in 8th place individually. Brock Faulkner (SO/Waldo, Ohio) (SO/Cardington, Ohio)'s +4 (75) would help him move up into a tie for 16th, with Logan Sheets (FR/Bidwell, Ohio) moving up from 51st to a tie for 34th to also key the rally. Emily Hayes would lead the women again on day two, shooting a +28 to finish at +52 (196) overall.
Men's golf is next in action on Sunday and Monday, September 25th-26th when they travel to the Indiana East Tournament. Women's golf is off until the Shawnee State Invitational on October 17th and 18th.
