Portsmouth, Ohio – Shawnee State men's and women's golf were in action on Sunday and Monday, with Dagan Abdon taking home individual medalist honors and leading Shawnee State to a second place finish. The women finished in third place, shooting a program record 811.
Abdon was locked in from the start of the tournament, leading wire-to-wire. The sophomore from Greenup County, Kentucky shot a 68 on day one, followed up by a 71 on day two for a two day score of 139 (-5). The men were tied for fifth after the first round, but good second rounds from Jacob Braskett (77), AJ Hamilton (74) and Logan Sheets (79) helped Shawnee State to sneak past Pikeville, 610 to 611, for second place. Campbellsville were the overall team champions, shooting 583 for the tournament.
SSU's women shot a team record 811 over the two day tournament. The program, in its first season, has improved their team score in every tournament. Emily Hayes was the low scorer for the Bears, shooting 94-91 for an overall 185 (+37). Midway were the overall women's champions.
