Portsmouth, Ohio – Megan Ashton (SR/Proctorville, Ohio) has been named the Mid-South Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Ashton, a senior from Proctorville, Ohio, finished fourth overall at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge in Grand Rapids, Michigan, posting a time of 18:16.28. She has posted three top five finishes this season, helping the Bears to win the Mid-South Conference Preview and to a second place finish at both Wilmington College and Great Lakes.
Megan is the second Bear to win the award this season. Anna Havranek (JR/Sugarcreek, Ohio) has won four of the eight awards this season, meaning Shawnee State has won over half of the Mid-South Conference Runner of the Week awards for the 2016 season. Men's cross country also have two winners, with Adrian Ross and Seth Farmer having won the award this season.
The Bears begin their postseason on Saturday, November 5th when they travel to Bowling Green, Kentucky to compete in the Mid-South Conference Championships.
