Portsmouth, Ohio – Shawnee State volleyball are back in action on Tuesday, October 25th when they wrap up their home schedule by hosting #8 Georgetown in Mid-South Conference play.
The Bears enter Tuesday with a record of 5-22, and are 0-12 in the Mid-South Conference. Shawnee State were last in action on Thursday, October 20th when they defeated rivals Rio Grande 3-2 on Senior Night. Lauren Helbig (SR/Mansfield, Ohio) had 23 kills and hit .475 in the win.
Georgetown are ranked eighth nationally and are 24-4 overall, with a 10-2 mark in the conference. The Tigers last played on Tuesday, October 18th, defeating Pikeville 3-0.
Lauren Helbig continues to be a Mid-South Conference leader in two categories. She is second in kills per set at 3.7, and is fifth in hitting percentage at .283. Rhyanna Day (SR/Beaver, Ohio) is still in the top five in digs per set, averaging 4.3.
Georgetown's Jenny Howell leads the league in kills per set, averaging 3.8. Sarah Bell is also the conference leader in assists per set, averaging 11.0. Ashlee Howe and Sarah Snyder are second and fourth in the league in blocks per set, averaging 1.1 and 0.9 respectively. Courtney Grafton is third in the league in digs per set at 4.4. Allie Card is tied for fourth in service aces per set, averaging 0.3.
Shawnee State sport a 2-11 all-time record against Georgetown, with the Tigers having won the last 11 straight. Georgetown has been ranked in every match since October 10th, 2013. SSU dropped the first match between the two teams this season, a 3-0 road defeat.
