Portsmouth, Ohio – Shawnee State cross country led the Mid-South Conference with a combined 13 student-athletes named conference All-Academic selections for the 2016 season.
The Shawnee State women led the league with seven selections overall. These selections included four time conference Runner of the Week Anna Havranek (JR/Sugarcreek, Ohio), one time Runner of the Week Megan Ashton (SR/Proctorville, Ohio), Lindsey Krause (FR/Pickaway County, Ohio), Katie Saling (SO/Caldwell, Ohio), Brooke Smith (SO/Wheelersburg, Ohio), Kate Spencer (JR/Glouster, Ohio), and Darian Steele (SO/Ashland, Ky.). The seven honorees were two better than second place Cumberlands and Pikeville with five each.
The men also led their side with six selections. Noah Bullock (SO/Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio), David Jaeger (SO/Liberty Township, Ohio), Chad McComas (JR/Proctorville, Ohio), Andrew Polanco (JR/Woodbridge, N.J.), Cody Redman (JR/Circleville, Ohio), and Ethan Richter (JR/Chillicothe, Ohio) were all honored with the award. Shawnee State once again just clipped past Cumberlands, who had five nominees.
Overall, 23 men and 34 women around the Mid-South met the qualifications to be an All-Academic award winner this season. To win the award, student-athletes must be a sophomore academically and maintain a minimum 3.25 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
With both teams ranked in the top 10 in the country, Shawnee State will run for the Mid-South Conference Championships on Saturday, November 5th in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
