Campbellsville, Ky. - Shawnee State volleyball fell in their regular season finale on Friday night, losing 3-1 (24-26, 25-22, 25-22, 25-19) to Campbellsville.
Shawnee State would win the first set 26-24 after falling behind 13-8, and then 21-16 late in the set. Lauren Helbig (SR/Mansfield, Ohio)'s five kills in the set would rally Shawnee State to the first set win.
Campbellsville would rally to capture the next three sets. Shawnee State would battle back and forth with the Tigers in the second and third set. Campbellsville would pull away early in the third to seal the 3-1 win.
Lauren Helbig had 17 kills to lead Shawnee State, with Miranda Clark (SR/Chillicothe, Ohio) adding 11 kills. Deanna Smith (JR/Riverview, MI) would have 38 assists, and Rhyanna Day (SR/Beaver, Ohio) would lead with 12 digs. Annija Abolina had 17 kills, with Maria Coelho adding 16 and Julia Froncesca had 15. Inoa Fields had 56 assists.
With the loss, Shawnee State fell to 5-24, and finish with an 0-14 record in the Mid-South Conference. Campbellsville improve to 24-11, and 10-4 in the conference.
Shawnee State finish the regular season in last place in the Mid-South Conference and will begin the conference tournament on Monday, November 7th. The Bears will face Lindsey Wilson in the first round.
