Bowling Green, Ky. - It was a great day for Shawnee State cross country, as both the men's and women's teams swept the Mid-South Conference Championships on Saturday morning.
Anna Havranek (JR/Sugarcreek, Ohio) would finish first overall on the women's side, finishing with a time of 18:17.3, nearly 30 seconds ahead of second place. The Bears would also have Alyssa Taylor (SO/Georgetown, Ohio) finish third with a time of 18:46.9, and Megan Ashton (SR/Proctorville, Ohio) would finish fourth with a time of 18:47.8 to give Shawnee State three top five finishers. Kate Spencer (JR/Glouster, Ohio), Shaniah Begley (SO/McDermott, Ohio), and Brooke Smith (SO/Wheelersburg, Ohio) would also finish in the top 10 to give Shawnee State an easy five minute advantage over second place Cumberlands.
Seth Farmer (SO/Waverly, Ohio) would continue his excellent end of season form, finishing third with a time of 25:29.7. Although SSU would not have an individual win the meet, SSU would have six top 10 finishers, including Farmer, David Jaeger (SO/Liberty Township, Ohio), Adrian Ross (SR/Chillicothe, Ohio), Cody Redman (JR/Circleville, Ohio), Ethan Richter (JR/Chillicothe, Ohio), and Parker Blain (JR/Marietta, Ohio). SSU finished two minutes ahead of second place Campbellsville.
With both teams ranked 10th nationally, SSU cross country will now prepare for the NAIA National Championships, to be held November 19th in Elsah, Illinois at North Farm Cross Country Course.
