Portsmouth, Ohio – Shawnee State cross country both won a host of individual awards after both teams won their respective Mid-South Conference Championships.
For the women, Anna Havranek (JR/Sugarcreek, Ohio) was named Mid-South Conference Runner of the Year. Her first place finish in the event clinched the award after Havranek earned MSC Runner of the Week honors four times.
The team also had five of the seven members of the All-Mid South Conference First Team. Havranek, Alyssa Taylor (SO/Georgetown, Ohio), Megan Ashton (SR/Proctorville, Ohio), Kate Spencer (JR/Glouster, Ohio), and Shaniah Begley (SO/McDermott, Ohio) all earned first team honors. Brooke Smith (SO/Wheelersburg, Ohio) and Katie Saling (SO/Caldwell, Ohio) were named to the second team.
The men's team had Seth Farmer (SO/Waverly, Ohio) named MSC Freshman of the Year. Farmer finished third in the Mid-South Championships, and was the highest Shawnee State finisher at the event. Farmer won Runner of the Week on October 17th.
Four Bears were named to the first team on the men's side. Farmer, David Jaeger (SO/Liberty Township, Ohio), Adrian Ross (SR/Chillicothe, Ohio), and Cody Redman (JR/Circleville, Ohio) were all named to the first team, while Ethan Richter (JR/Chillicothe, Ohio), Parker Blain (JR/Marietta, Ohio), Steven Adams (FR/Pickaway County, Ohio), and Owen Reeher (FR/Kinsman, Ohio) were named to the second team. In all, 15 Shawnee State cross country athletes were honored with all-conference awards, by far the most for either men or women in the conference.
Both cross country teams will compete at the NAIA National Championships, to be held November 19th in Elsah, Illinois.
