Portsmouth, Ohio – Shawnee State women's soccer had two players named NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athletes as Heather Hencye (JR/Russell, Ky.) and Mara McGee (JR/Baltimore, Ohio) both took home the award.
Hencye, a junior from Russell, Kentucky, played in 15 games this season, starting 11. She scored two goals in those 15 matches. McGee, also a junior from Baltimore, Ohio, played in 12 games, starting in 10, primarily in defense.
To be eligible for the award, student athletes must have completed two full years as a non-transfer or one year as a transfer, and must have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or above. Hencye and McGee both exceeded the minimum requirements for the award.
The award is the first for both Hencye and McGee in their careers, as this was the first season either was eligible for the award. Shawnee State had three scholar-athletes last season: Schuyler Jones, Erin Phillips, and Tasha Wilson.
