St. Louis, Mo. – Anna Havranek (JR/Sugarcreek, Ohio) led the Bears on Friday breaking Shawnee State track and field's 10,000-meter run record as SSU track participated in the Washington University (Mo.) Invitational in St. Louis and at the Miami Duals at Miami University (OH).
The previous record was 36:26 set by one of Havranek's coaches and Shawnee State alumni Sarah Biehl. Havranek surpassed the record by recording a blistering time of 35:59.90 on the way to a second place finish overall. Other notable performances for the lady Bears include Alyssa Taylor (SO/Georgetown, OH) who recorded a time of 18:13.57 in the 5000-meter run. Katie Saling (SO/Caldwell, OH) posted a time of 38:38.80 in the 10,000-meter run, as a team the women finished 8th overall.
For the men, Ethan Richter (JR/Chillicothe, Ohio) recorded a 15:19.08 in the 5000-meter run followed by Seth Miller (FR/Ironton, Ohio) with a 15:30.37. Owen Reeher (FR/Kinsman, Ohio) finished the race in 15:43.92 along with Cody Redman (JR/Circleville, Ohio), who recorded a time of 15:48.36.
Shawnee State University will return to action on Friday, April 7th at the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) Invitational.
