Portsmouth, Ohio – Shawnee State tennis dropped a pair of doubleheaders over the weekend, with both the men and the women falling to Cumberland (Tenn.) on Saturday and Cumberlands (Ky.) on Sunday.
The Shawnee State men were blanked by Cumberland (Tenn.) 9-0 on Saturday. The doubles duo of Nick Johnson and Caspar Nolte were SSU's best performers on the afternoon, falling 8-1 to CU's Ramon Puertalos and Riccardo Ferraris.
Shawnee State's women also fell to Cumberland 9-0 on Saturday. Caleigh O'Neal (SO/Greenup, Kentucky) and Kendi Congrove (SR/Chillicothe, Ohio) were SSU's best performers in their doubles match, losing 8-1 to Sarah Edwards and Marta Ferrando Pea.
Shawnee State's men and women were equally stymied against Cumberlands (Ky.) on Sunday, with both teams falling 8-0. Nick Johnson was the only SSU player to take a game on Sunday, falling 6-0, 6-1 to UC's Tanishq Mahendru.
The losses drop both the Shawnee State men and women to 3-7 on the season. Shawnee State's men fall to 0-5 on the year in the Mid-South Conference, while SSU's women fall to 1-4 in the league.
Shawnee State tennis return to action on Thursday, April 13th when they play at Georgetown in Mid-South Conference play.
