Portsmouth, Ohio – Shawnee State Athletics Trainer Devon Palmer has announced that mandatory physicals for all returning SSU athletes have been scheduled for April 23rd, 2017.
King's Daughters Medical Center will provide free physicals to returning athletes at Rhodes Athletic Center, sending qualified doctors and athletic trainers to provide them in a timely manner. Each Shawnee State team has signed up for a time slot to have physicals performed. Physicals are required of all returning student-athletes to compete during the 2017-18 school year.
"Now that our athletic training services have moved over to Kings Daughters Medical Center (KDMC) there have been some changes going on, some of which I am sure you have noticed," said Devon Palmer. "One of the changes being implemented are mandatory athlete physicals for all returning athletes at the end of the previous school year. By doing them at the end of the previous school year all athletes will be covered for the following year. These physicals will be provided free of charge and will happen here on Shawnee States campus in the Rhodes Athletic center. KDMC will be sending doctors, athletic trainers, and various other staff here to get these all done in one day."
"These physicals are mandatory for any athlete wishing to participate at Shawnee State in 2017-2018. The new physical paperwork (which is currently pending approval from the university) will be accessible to students on the SSUbears website. This paperwork can be found under the "Inside Athletics" tab labeled "Athletic Training Forms". This paperwork needs to be printed by the athlete and brought with them on the day of the physicals," said Palmer.
