Reed Spata would then hit Cumberlands' fourth consecutive single to drive in Pantoja.
Shawnee State would cut the lead to 4-3 with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Matt Dvorscak would walk to lead off the inning. JT Boggs would then hit a single to move Dvorscak over to second, and both runners would advance a base on Brandon Reaman (SR/Dayton, Ohio)'s single to load the bases. Cumberlands pitcher Jeff Rivera would balk in Dvorscak while dealing with Nick Rose (SO/Olentangy, Ohio). Rose would then hit a sacrifice fly to center to make the score 4-3.
Cumberlands would immediately respond by getting a run in the top of the sixth. Guillermo Villegas would double with one out, and would come home on Roberto Prado's single.
Shawnee State would make things interesting in the bottom of the seventh.
