Louisville, Ky. – After a hazardous weekend of weather moved the Mid-South Conference Tournament first round to Louisville's Top Gun Tennis Academy, Shawnee State tennis ended their seasons on Sunday with losses to Campbellsville (Ky.).
Shawnee State's men would fall 5-0 to the Tigers. Campbellsville would sweep the doubles matches, winning 8-0 in all three. Mario Belloni would defeat Zach Colley (FR/Portsmouth, Ohio) 6-1, 6-0 in one of the completed singles matches, with Victor Alhbeck defeating Rodney Spriggs (SO/Lucasville, Ohio) 6-0, 6-0 in the other completed singles match to give the Tigers the win.
Shawnee State's women would also be swept by Campbellsville by a 6-0 score. The Tigers would again sweep the doubles matches before putting Shawnee State away in singles. 24th-ranked player Kaede Amano defeated Shelby Hay (SO/Louisa, Kentucky) 6-0, 6-0, while Bolor Enkbhayar defeated Megan Meyers (FR/Wheelersburg, Ohio) 6-1, 6-0. Finally, Majella Nobile defeated Kendi Congrove (SR/Chillicothe, Ohio) 6-0, 6-0 in the final completed match of the afternoon.
The losses drop both of SSU's teams to a 3-11 finishes overall. Campbellsville's men improve to 17-3 and the Tiger women improve to 9-7. The Campbellsville men will play Cumberland (Tenn.) in the Mid-South Conference Tournament semifinals on Monday with the women set to play Cumberlands (Ky.).
