Westerville, Ohio – Shawnee State track and field participated in two events over the weekend, competing in the Jesse Owens Classic at Ohio State University and at the Otterbein Invitational.
Shawnee State's men placed 13th out of 15 teams at Otterbein over the weekend. Nathan Cox (FR) was SSU's best finisher in the meet, placing ninth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.63 seconds. Nicholas McAfee placed 10th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:01.52.
Shawnee State's Seth Farmer (SO/Waverly, Ohio) also competed at the Jesse Owen Classic at Ohio State University. Farmer finished ninth in the 1500-meter run, with a time of 3:53.42.
Shawnee State's women finished in 12th place out of 13 teams at Otterbein over the weekend. Brooke Smith (SO/Wheelersburg, OH) was SSU's best finisher of the weekend, picking up fourth place in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:48.9. Alyssa Taylor (SO/Georgetown, OH) also placed in the top 10 of the 1500, capturing sixth place with a time of 4:52.94. Taylor also placed ninth in the 800-meter run, getting a time of 2:28.82.
Anna Havranek (JR/Sugarcreek, Ohio) and Megan Ashton (SR/Proctorville, OH) also competed at the Jesse Owen Classic, running in the 5000-meter run showcase event. Havranek took home 15th place with a time of 17:28.98. Ashton competed in the 3000-meter steeplechase, getting 17th place with a time of 11:34.36.
Shawnee State track and field will participate in the Mid-South Conference Championships this weekend, with the three-day event running from April 27th-29th.
