Bowling Green, Ky. – Shawnee State men's and women's golf both finished in seventh place at the Mid-South Conference Championships on Wednesday afternoon.
Shawnee State's men shot a three-day 947, 83 strokes over par and 58 strokes behind conference champion Cumberland (Tenn.). Dagan Abdon (SO/Greenup County, Ky.) had Shawnee State's best performance of the tournament, finishing tied for 16th place. Abdon shot 75/76/78 over the three rounds to finish at 13 over par. Brock Faulkner (SO/Waldo, Ohio) (SO/Cardington, Ohio) was SSU's only other player to finish inside the top 30, finishing tied for 23rd by shooting 80/78/78 for a three-day +20.
Shawnee State's women shot a three-day 1345, putting them at +481 for the tournament. SSU's Emily Hayes (FR/Pataskala, Ohio) was the women's best performer, finishing in 31st place by shooting 107/94/96 to go 81 over par. CUmberlands (Ky.) were the champions on the women's side of the Mid-South Championships.
The end of the conference tournament marks an end to Shawnee State's golf season as both teams failed to qualify for the NAIA National Championships. Shawnee State's men were able to pick up one tournament victory this season as the SSU men finished first at the Shawnee State Spring Invitational in late March. The end of the season also marks the end of Shawnee State's inaugural women's golf season.
