Boggs and Claflin earned the award by being academic juniors and maintaining a 3.5 cumulative GPA over the course of their academic careers at Shawnee State. Boggs earned a Mid-South Conference All-Academic award last season as a sophomore, and both Boggs and Claflin were named to the All-Academic squad this season.
The two juniors joined a list of nine players named All-Academic for the 2017 season, which is a Shawnee State baseball program record. The previous record was eight, set in 2014. The two NAIA Scholar-Athlete awards tie the most in a single season, set in 2002, 2009 and 2016.
"We are immensely proud of JT and Casey for earning the NAIA Scholar-Athlete award," said head baseball coach Chris Moore. "It is yet another indication of how strong our program is academically. Our academic growth as a team is helping to prepare our players for life outside of baseball and Shawnee State, and I couldn't be prouder of us."
