Portsmouth, Ohio – Shawnee State women's soccer released their 2017 schedule on Wednesday morning, including SSU's first fall Homecoming and the first night games at Shawnee Turf.
SSU will open their season at home on August 29 against Union College in Shawnee Turf's first ever game under the lights. New lights will be installed at Shawnee Turf over the summer.
Shawnee State will host NAIA newcomers Maine-Fort Kent on September 1, and follow that up two days later with Rochester (Mich.) on September 3. Maine-Fort Kent and Rochester will play a game at Shawnee Turf on September 2.
The Bears will host Homecoming in the fall for the first time in 2017, with women's soccer set to play Bob Jones (SC) at 12:00pm. The noon match will be the first game of Homecoming Saturday, followed by men's soccer at 2:00 and volleyball at 4:00.
Shawnee State's first Mid-South Conference game is a home match against Lindsey Wilson at 5:00pm on September 26. The Bears will then host senior day on October 21 against Campbellsville at 6:00pm. After the conclusion of the regular season, Shawnee State will play in the Mid-South Conference Tournament, held at South Warren High School in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The Mid-South quarterfinals will be held November 2-3, with the semifinals set for November 9 and the finals November 10.
This year's NAIA National Championships are set to be held in Orange Beach, Alabama. If Shawnee State qualifies, they will play at the Orange Beach Sportsplex starting November 27, with the NAIA Championship Game set for December 2.
Today's women's soccer schedule release marks the end of this week's schedule releases. Shawnee State will next reveal their men's and women's basketball schedules, set for release later this month.
