Portsmouth, Ohio – Shawnee State bowling released the schedule for their inaugural season on Wednesday morning.
Shawnee State's first bowling weekend will be September 23-24, when the Bears travel to Louisville to compete in the Louisville Collegiate Classic and the Thomas N. Burris Memorial Tournament. Shawnee State will face off against Mid-South Conference competition for the first time that weekend.
SSU will then participate in the Orange & Black Classic the weekend of October 14-15 in Dayton, Ohio. The Bears take a week off before traveling to Smyrna, Tennessee to compete in the Collegiate Baker Bash on October 28-29. SSU wraps up the first half of their schedule at the Raider Classic in Beavercreek, Ohio on November 11-12.
Shawnee State kick off 2018 by playing in the Thomas More Saints Classic on January 6-7 in Newport, Kentucky. SSU then travels to play in Ohio State's Buckeye Classic in Columbus on January 13-14. After a week off, the Bears travel to Cincinnati for the Cincinnati Collegiate Classic on January 27-28.
The February portion of the schedule for Shawnee States starts on February 3, when the Bears play in the Northern Kentucky University Norse Classic in Erlanger, Kentucky. SSU then plays in the Storm Eagle Classic on February 4 in Jeffersontown, Kentucky.
SSU wraps up their season three weeks later when they play in their first-ever Mid-South Conference Championships, hosted in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
"I am very excited and looking forward to our athletes being able to compete in our first season," said head bowling coach Bryan Sturgell. "Our athletes have been working hard to prepare and I look forward to watching them experience the different events and competitions throughout our region. We all are very excited to represent Shawnee State University."
