Portsmouth, Ohio – Shawnee State Athletics is pleased to announce the addition of archery and e-sports as competition sports beginning in the 2018-19 season.
Archery is an emerging sport in the Mid-South Conference, with Shawnee State becoming the sixth full-time member to add the sport. Campbellsville, Cumberlands (Ky.), Cumberland (Tenn.), Georgetown and Pikeville have all added the sport in recent years. In addition, MSC affiliate members Bethel (Tenn.) and Kentucky Christian both participate as members of the league in archery.
Shawnee State will also be expanding athletics by adding e-sports as a new co-ed sport opportunity. Shawnee State is the third full-time member of the Mid-South Conference to add e-sports, with Cumberlands and Pikeville already having the sport.
"We are excited to be adding archery and e-sports to our offerings in the 2018-19 school year," said Shawnee State Athletics Director Jeff Hamilton. "We are excited to see our department become pioneers in these two sports at the NAIA level. Both archery and e-sports are natural fits for Shawnee State, and we look forward to seeing them succeed at both the conference and national level."
