Midway, Ky. – Shawnee State men's soccer lost their third straight on Saturday, falling to Midway (Ky.) 4-2.
Midway would get off to a good start, getting three first half goals. Max Bristow would get the scoring started for the Eagles, firing home at the three minute mark after being played in by Alex Enzweiler. Bristow would then grab an assist in the 14th minute, playing a ball to Brad Wilson, who would hit it past SSU keeper Matt Boreman at the far post. Wilson then got an assist in the 23rd minute on Pol Marco's strike to put the Eagles up 3-0.
The Midway attack would continue to start the second half as the Eagles would score first in the period. Brad Wilson would get his brace by finishing past Zachary Smith (FR/West Portsmouth, Ohio) to give Midway a 4-0 lead.
Shawnee State would attempt to rally late. Alek Belvins would get SSU's first in the 83rd minute, scoring off a pass from Caspar Nolte (JR/Germantown, Ohio). Nolte would then score a goal of his own in the 87th minute, with Mitchell Patchett (FR/Dublin, Ohio) on the assist. The rally would fall short, however, with SSU falling to Midway 4-2.
The loss drops Shawnee State's record to 1-9 on the year. SSU picked up a win after Ohio Christian forfeited last Tuesday's cancelled game. Midway improves to 3-2.
Shawnee State kicks off Mid-South Conference play on Tuesday night, when they host Lindsey Wilson at Shawnee Turf. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm.
