Portsmouth, Ohio – Shawnee State men's soccer were defeated on Tuesday night, falling to #11 Lindsey Wilson 2-0.
Shawnee State played tight defensively but would allow Lindsey Wilson's opening goal in the first half. Mutaya Mwape would burst forward with the ball in the 12th minute and find open space in front of Shawnee State's goal, juke past goalkeeper Matt Boreman, and finish past the scrambling SSU defense. The one goal of the half would remain the only scoring as Lindsey Wilson would nurse a 1-0 lead to halftime.
The second half would see more of the same as the Blue Raiders dominated possession and the chances. Lindsey Wilson would find their second in the 58th minute as Franck Bikoya would finish past Boreman on a back heel from Mwape to make the score 2-0. Lindsey Wilson would threaten to score but fail to do so as the game would end at that score line.
The loss drops Shawnee State to 1-10-0 on the season and 0-1-0 in the Mid-South Conference. Lindsey Wilson improves to 5-1-0 and 1-0-0 in the league.
Shawnee State returns to action on Sunday, October 1 when they host Cincinnat-Clermont. Kickoff is set for 3:00pm.
