The Shawnee State Baseball Team (16-18, 4-7 MSC) lost a doubleheader to the Tigers of Georgetown on Thursday afternoon. The Bears fell in both games in the bottom of the final innings.
Shawnee fell in the opener 3-2.
The Bears posted a run in the first on a single by Colin Keim (Clinton, OH). Georgetown tieded the game at a run apiece scoring in the third on a double by Randy Guite.
Both teams scored runs in the fourth to tie the game at 2-2. The Tigers' Jordan Hinsaw homered in the bottom of the ninth to give Georgetown the 3-2 victory.
Senior Austin Dunfee (Pomeroy, OH) was tagged with the loss. Dunfee pitched a complete games and allowed three runs on eight hits with a pair of strikeouts.
Getting the win for the Tigers was Tyler Arthur. Arthur went the distance on the mound allowign two runs on six hits and four walks. He struck out five Bear batters.
It took extra innings for Georgetown to pull out the 3-2 victory in the nightcap.
Wamsley led off the fifth with a double and then scored on a wild pitch to give SSU the 1-0 advantage. In the top of the sixth, the Bears plated another run. Senior Danny Gesick (Pickerington, OH) doubled to right field. Keim singled to center and Gesick scored on a Georgetown error on the play.
The Tigers answered back in the bottom of the inning. Tanner Baldwin scored on a Shawnee State error and Chris Wood scored on a double by Guite.
Neither team was able to score, forcing the game into extra innings. In the bottom of the 10th, Ryan Serrato scored on a single by Kyle Rosen to capture the 3-2 win.
Junior Jordan Williams (Uniontown, OH) was tagged with the loss. Williams releived starter senior Alex Taku (Santa Cruz, CA) on the mound in the fifth and allowing one run on one hit with five walks and three strikeouts.
Chad Richie got the win for Georgetown as he worked the final 3.0 innings allowing one hit with two strikeouts.
Gesick and Keim each went 2-for-4 in the game.
The final game of the series with Georgetown has not yet been set.
