Ralph Cole was named MSC Co-Coach while Katy Bender, Kirsti Yates, and Ali Thompson were named 1stTeam All-Mid-South Conference, while Ericka Leighty earned 2ndTeam recognition during the banquet on Wednesday evening. Leighty, Thompson and Yates joined Nikki Nance and Allie Chapman as MSC Scholar Athletes.

Cole was named the Co-Coach of the year, voted upon by his peers, as he guided the Bears to a 26-10 record and a 16-6 record in conference play to finish 3rdoverall.  This honor is Cole's ninth of his career. 

Bender, a freshman from Canal Winchester, led the Bears with a .345 batting average and 26 runs scored.  On the season, she tallied 38 hits, seven doubles, three triples and 22 RBI's.

Yates, a sophomore from Chillicothe, OH led Shawnee with seven home runs, 39 hits and 35 RBI's this season.  At the plate she accumulated a .331 batting average with 24 runs scored and eight doubles.

Thompson, a junior from Franklin Furnace, OH, tallied a 13-5 record on the mound.  She had a .194 ERA with four shutouts in the season.

Leighty, a junior from South Point, OH, led the Bears with 11 doubles on the season.  She batted .317 on the season with 24 runs scored, 32 hits, two triples, two home runs and 19 RBI's.

Leighty, Yates, Thompson also joined teammates sophomore Nikki Nance (Proctorville, OH) and freshman Allie Chapman (Chesapeake, OH) as MSC Scholar Athletes.  The five earn the honors after accumulating a 3.25 grade point average and sophomore academically.
