PORTSMOUTH – Kyra Keeton and Shelbie Wulfekamp took runner-up honors at the Sixth Annual Steven A. Hunter Hope Found Tournament this past weekend. This capped a successful weekend on the courts as Ashley Fischer and Ashley O'Neill went 2-1 in pool play.

The Hope Fund was named in honor of Steven A. Hunter. He was a graduate of Portsmouth High School and passed away suddenly in 2006 while enrolled at Milligan Christian College. Proceeds from the weekend tournament will be used to aid financially disadvantaged children in the Portsmouth City Schools.

The doubles teams were all paired in four-team pool play format. Keeton and Wulfekamp were one of two doubles pairings that advanced out of pool play before falling in the finals. Team Ashley (Fischer and O'Neill) just missed out on a trip to the finals by a point differential margin.

The Bears will now be off until September 21-22 when they will take part in the Pikeville Invitational. Shawnee State will close the fall portion of its schedule on October 5 at home against Midway.
