PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Cross Country) – Both the Shawnee State men's and women's cross country teams remained in the NAIA Top 10 this week, after second straight victories for each squad.

For the second straight week, the men's team remained at the No. 7 spot, where they have been since the opening poll on Aug. 27. The Bears earned another team victory at the 28th Annual Winthrop Invitational, finishing first of seven squads in the non-NCAA Division I race. SSU completed the 8,000 meter race faster as a team than all but one of the Division I teams, as well.

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Volleyball) – Lauren Helbig recorded a season-high 14 kills and Hayley Carle hit .667, as the Shawnee State volleyball team defeated the University of Pikeville in straight sets (25-20, 25-19, 25-23) on Wednesday night at Frank & Janis Waller Gymnasium.

The evening featured games and prizes all in support of Muscular Dystrophy Association, as both squads wore warm-up shirts featuring the MDA logo.

Men's Soccer - Tue, Sep. 23, 2014

COLUMBIA, Ky. (Women's Soccer) – The Shawnee State men's soccer team battled for 110 minutes with the top-ranked team in the country, as the Bears and Lindsey Wilson College played to a 0-0 draw late into the night Tuesday at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.

SSU (1-5-2, 0-2-1 Mid-South) was content to play, often times, eight men in the back versus the high powered Blue Raider (5-1-1, 1-0-1) offense, who were named the No. 1 team in the country Tuesday afternoon in the NAIA Coaches Top 25 Poll.

COLUMBIA, Ky. (Women's Soccer) – For the second time in as many games, the Shawnee State women's soccer team was charged with the herculean task of facing a nationally-ranked top-10 opponent.

A different day yielded a similar result as the Bears dropped a second-straight Mid-South Conference match, 10-0, this time at the hands of sixth-ranked Lindsey Wilson College on Tuesday night at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
