Mid-South Conference Release

PORTSMOUTH – Sarah Biehl has been named the Mid-South Conference Track Athlete of the Week as announced by conference officials. This week is the first time this award has been handed out and comes after the Bears' first outdoor meet of the season. Biehl also won this award once last season and was named the MSC Runner of the Week in cross country once this past fall.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Three school records fell during the opening week of outdoor season for the women's track team during its trip to the Coastal Carolina Invitational. Two of those marks fell in the relay races, while the 800-meter record book was also rewritten.

PORTSMOUTH – Women's outdoor track & field enters its fourth season as a varsity program in the spring of 2014. Shawnee State will open this year's campaign this Friday and Saturday at the Coastal Carolina Invitational. The Bears have improved their score at the Mid-South Conference Championships each season and have sent at a runner to the NAIA National Meet each of the first three seasons.

PORTSMOUTH – Shawnee State Athletics has announced the addition of three student-athletes and one Home Team Award recipient in its Hall of Fame Class of 2014. All three former student-athletes (Lisa Davies, Rebecca Day and Star Emmert were inducted in their first year eligible on the ballot while Bill Rockwell was announced as the Home Team Award recipient.

2014 Outdoor Track Schedule

PORTSMOUTH – Track & Field has announced its 2014 outdoor schedule. Head Coach Eric Putnam has again sought the best competition possible for his squad as the team's eight regular season track meets will all be hosted by NCAA Division I programs. With the conference and NAIA Championships, the Bears are scheduled to compete in 10 meets over the course of nine different weekends throughout the 2014 season.
