MARIAN, Ind. – For the second straight year, men's track will have a representative in the 5,000-meter finals of the NAIA Championships. Jeremy Anderson finished his heat in a time of 14:59.43. That time was the fastest time by an SSU runner in the event at the NAIA Championships. Anderson joins Adam Schroeder (who qualified in 2012) as the only two runners to qualify for the 5,000-meter finals in program history.
MARIAN, Ind. – Senior Brittney LiPira saved the best 10,000-meter race of her SSU career for her NAIA Track Championship debut as she broke her own school record with a time of 37:02.22. That time placed her ninth overall in her first of two events she will be competing in this weekend.
MARIAN, Ind. – Brittney LiPira will wrap-up her decorated running career at Shawnee State this week with the NAIA Track & Field Championships. Although she will be making her first appearance at the NAIA Track Championships, LiPira is no stranger to the highest NAIA stage as she has competed in the NAIA Cross Country Championship in each of her four seasons of eligibility (2008-11). She has qualified for two events in her track championship debut, the 5,000 meters and the 10,000 meters.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – With classes and finals wrapped up for the spring semester, Shawnee State's track & field team sent just 10 members combined between both of its men's and women's teams to the Louisville Cardinal Twilight Classic. Despite the shortened list of competitors, there were several highlights for the Bears in their final meet before the NAIA Championships as three members bested their seed times.
WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – Women's track & field posted its best-ever performance at the Mid-South Championships with a sixth place finish in the team standings. The Bears scored 76 points over the two-day meet. Although they were unable to pick up the top honor in any event, there were several near misses as seven different times the Bears posted top-three finishes in an event.
