PORTSMOUTH – Five members of the Shawnee State volleyball team have been named Academic All-MSC. Janine Grey, Holly Tobias, Hannah Gephart, Kirsti Yates and Abbi Morrow were all honored with the academic award. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be in their sophomore year and have maintained a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Volleyball saw its turnaround season come to a halt Friday afternoon in the Mid-South Tournament as the fifth-seeded Bears (22-13) were eliminated in the quarterfinals by fourth-seeded Campbellsville (25-9) in three games (25-18, 25-16, 25-20). Despite the loss, the Bears still finished the year with 22 wins. This marked an 11-win improvement from last season despite playing in two less matches.
PORTSMOUTH — A year removed from an opening round lost to the Georgetown Tigers, volleyball will look to dig themselves through a tough Mid-South Conference Tournament and return to the NAIA National Tournament since 2010.
BLUEFIELD, Va. – Volleyball wrapped up a very successful regular season with a three-set win (25-14, 25-22, 25-16) over Bluefield (16-21, 4-10 MSC) Monday night. The Bears (22-12, 10-4 MSC) win was there second straight set win of the season over Bluefield. They will now get ready for the MSC Tournament where they will play in the No. 4/5 matchup on Friday against an opponent yet to be determined.
PORTSMOUTH – Volleyball sent the members of its senior class out on a convincing note with a 3-0 win (25-13, 25-15, 25-19) over UVA-Wise in the home finale. After honoring its three seniors, the Bears (21-12, 9-4 MSC) picked up their 16th sweep of the season. Seven of those sweeps have come in conference victories.
