Mid-South Conference Release

PORTSMOUTH – Nick Saunders (SO/Gallipolis, Ohio) has been named the Mid-South Conference Golfer of the Week as announced by conference officials. The honor is the first of Saunders' career as he becomes the third golfer in program history to earn this distinction.

GALENA, Ohio – Golf moved up one position in the team standings, forcing a three-way tie for sixth place after shooting 327 as a team in the final round of the Capital Spring Invitational. The Bears caught Madonna and also tied with Columbus State CC with a two-day score of 641.

GALENA, Ohio - Nick Saunders is tied for fifth overall after one day at the Capital Spring Invitational. His one-over-par (73) helped the Bears post a team score of 314. With three players recording rounds in the 70s, the Bears are sitting in seventh place overall in the 10-team tournament. They are just two shots out of a top five finish with one round to play Saturday.

PORTSMOUTH – Nick Saunders (SO, Gallipolis, Ohio) was awarded a place on the Shawnee State Invitational All-Tournament team following a fourth-place performance in the two day event to highlight the Bears' weekend. As a team, Shawnee State finished fourth with a team score of 641 during its home event. Bluefield State finished with an even 600 team score to best second-place Pikeville by 15 strokes.

PORTSMOUTH – Golf is sitting in fourth place overall in the team standings after shooting a combined 318 as a squad despite one of its top five withdrawing from the event. Dating back to the fall, that score is Shawnee State's second-best team score of the year despite playing in very windy conditions.
