Chillicothe, Ohio (Golf) – Shawnee State finished No. 1 in the Ohio University Chillicothe Invitational on Friday, besting second place by three strokes. Josh Zornes (JR/Ironton, Ohio) led the way for the Bears, shooting a competition-best 75 at Rivers Edge Golf Course.

New Albany, Ohio (Golf) – Shawnee State golf finished in fifth place after shooting a total of 649 in the two-day Capitol University Purple and White Invitational on Thursday and Friday. Josh Zornes (JR/Ironton, Ohio) had the best single-round score of the tournament, shooting 73 on day two at Royal American Links.

On the first day, SSU earned the fifth place spot out of seven teams as they completed the 18 holes in 334 shots at New Albany Links. They would come back on day two with a stronger performance, shooting just 311 on the second round (fourth best on the day) at Royal American Links. They would remain in 5th place after the second and final day of competition.

PRESTONBURG, Ky. (Golf) – The Shawnee State golf team shot a team-total 649 over a two-day stretch at Stonecrest Golf Course, finishing the Mid-South Spring Tournament in sixth place of 10 teams in a 36-hole tournament on Monday and Tuesday.

The Bears shot 326 on day one before besting that score by three strokes on the second day, shooting 323 to bring the two-day total to a team score of plus-73. SSU was six strokes ahead of seventh place finisher St. Catharine College and 20 strokes behind Campbellsville University in fifth place.

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Golf) – Josh Zornes (JR/Ironton, Ohio) shot 74-70 over two days, putting in the lowest round of the tournament on day two to finish in first place, as the Shawnee State golf team finished second overall while playing host to the SSU Invitational over the weekend at Elks Country Club.

Zornes' two-day total 144 was four strokes better than anyone else, as the junior posted his 16th straight round of breaking 80, dating back to last season. The round sets a program record for consecutive rounds in the 70s, breaking a mark set by Brandon Caniff in 2002.

BARDSTOWN, Ky. (Golf) – The Shawnee State men's golf team concluded the Fall 2014 season with a ninth place finish at the Mid-South Conference St. Catharine Fall Tournament, shooting a two-day, 36-hole total of 646 at Bardstown Country Club.
