MCDERMOTT, Ohio (Men's Golf) – The Shawnee State men's golf program obtained an even-par 72 from Brett Ruckel (SO/Vanceburg, Ky.) as well as a two-over 74 from Josh Zornes (SR/Ironton, Ohio) to lead the Bears to a fourth place showing in the eight-team Mid-South Conference Fall Tournament on Thursday afternoon at the Elks Country Club.
Shawnee State, who grabbed the aforementioned fourth place slot by shooting a collective score of 304, sits six strokes ahead of Georgetown and Campbellsville, who are currently tied for fifth place after Day One.
URBANA, Ohio (Men's Golf) – The Shawnee State men's golf program obtained a team score of 321 on the second day of the Urbana Dye Intercollegiate as the Bears capped their first competition of the fall season in Urbana on Sunday afternoon by placing in third overall in the seven team tournament.
With their overall score of 634, Shawnee State was able to move up one position in the team standings from Saturday's action, as the Bears edged NCAA Division II Wheeling Jesuit (W. Va.) by a single stroke and host Urbana – also an NCAA Division II program – by two strokes.
URBANA, Ohio (Men's Golf) – The Shawnee State men's golf program used two four-over 76 efforts from Josh Zornes (SR/Ironton, Ohio) and Drew Oxley (SO/Chesapeake, Ohio) to grab an opening round 313 at the Third Annual Dye Intercollegiate in Urbana, Ohio on Saturday evening.
The Bears' team score of 313 as a team currently has Shawnee State in fourth place in the seven-team tournament after the first day, with Shawnee State sitting just two strokes back of host Urbana (311) and six strokes back of second-place Millersville (Pa.), who has a 307 team score.
PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Golf) – The Shawnee State golf team will play in four tournaments this fall, highlighted by the Mid-South Fall Tournament at the Elks Country Club in McDermott, Ohio, head coach Roger Merb announced Thursday.
