PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Men's Soccer) – The Shawnee State men's soccer team held tough throughout the duration of its home game against Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) opponent Union College, but fell just shy of a victory as a 35th minute goal by Guillerme Cruz, a 64th minute goal by Nashaun Senior, and a 9-4 shot advantage allowed the Bulldogs to take a 2-0 victory over the Bears on Saturday evening at the Shawnee Turf.

Even though Shawnee State (3-4) was outshot nine to four by Union, the Bears nearly equaled the Bulldogs (3-0) in shots on goal, as Union held a small 4-3 advantage in the aforementioned category.

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Men's Soccer) – Following a goal from Dylan Stevens (SR/Canal Winchester, Ohio) with just 34 seconds remaining in the second half to even the score at 4-4, the Shawnee State men's soccer team surrendered a goal just under nine minutes into extra time – a free kick rifle from Grafton Hamilton – en route to a 5-4 defeat at the hands of Asbury University on Tuesday afternoon at Shawnee Turf.

"I thought we made just too many mental mistakes today," SSU head coach Ron Goodson said. "We were not as sharp as we have been the past three games. Hopefully a few days rest before the weekend will help us come out with a better effort on Saturday."

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Men's Soccer) – The Shawnee State men's soccer team continued its offensive barrage on Sunday afternoon by adding two more goals in the opening half – a 15th minute strike by Caspar Nolte (FR/Germantown, Ohio) and a 33rd minute blast by Joe Lamont (JR/Edinburgh, Scotland) – and thwarted a Saint Xavier rally in the second half to take a 2-1 victory in a nonconference bout against Saint Xavier for its third straight victory – all on the Shawnee Turf – on Sunday afternoon.

"I thought that we put together another great first half," Goodson said. "Possession was good and both goals were created by quality possessions. In the second half, we battled and showed a lot of character to finish the match with the win. This game is similar to games in which we have let our opponents come back and grab a victory over the last few seasons, but our club did a great job today of continuing to fight throughout the match."

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Men's Soccer) – The Shawnee State men's soccer team used a flurry of goals in the first-half, including a 29th minute penalty kick and a 37th minute strike from the left side of the pitch by Martyn Sayer (JR/Liverpool, England), along with Matyas Krivan (FR/South Point, Ohio)'s header with just 30 seconds remaining in the first half, to roll on to a 4-1 victory against St. Francis (Ind.) on Saturday afternoon at the Shawnee Turf.

"We came out and played a quality first half," Goodson said. "We had good scoring possessions, good scoring opportunities, and obtained good minutes off of the bench as well. It was a good continuation of the way we finished the game last Tuesday. We were the fitter team and wore them down."
