MARIAN, Ind. – For the second straight year, men's track will have a representative in the 5,000-meter finals of the NAIA Championships. Jeremy Anderson finished his heat in a time of 14:59.43. That time was the fastest time by an SSU runner in the event at the NAIA Championships. Anderson joins Adam Schroeder (who qualified in 2012) as the only two runners to qualify for the 5,000-meter finals in program history.
MARIAN, Ind. – Just minutes after watching Brittney LiPira break her own school record in the 10,000-meters, Jeremy Anderson went out and also set a new school mark in his debut race at the NAIA Track Championships with a time of 30:52.92. His ninth-place finish was nine spots above his original seed of 18th overall based on times from the regular season.
MARIAN, Ind. – Jeremy Anderson and Breydon Gates will each make their NAIA Track Championship debuts this week. Both have qualified for the 5,000-meter race while Anderson will be competing in two events as he has also qualified in the 10,000-meters. This marks the third time in as many varsity seasons that Shawnee State will send at least two individuals to compete at the NAIA Track Championships.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – With classes and finals wrapped up for the spring semester, Shawnee State's track & field team sent just 10 members combined between both of its men's and women's teams to the Louisville Cardinal Twilight Classic. Despite the shortened list of competitors, there were several highlights for the Bears in their final meet before the NAIA Championships as three members bested their seed times.
WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – Men's track & field posted its best finish in program history as the Bears scored 99 points to place fourth overall in the team Standings at the Mid-South Conference Championship.
