PORTSMOUTH – Men's track & field will compete in four events at the 2014 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Brad Liston (SR/Circleville, Ohio) will compete in the 3,000 meter steeplechase for the Bears. Breydon Gates (JR/Belpre, Ohio) (5,000 meters) and Adam Schroeder (SR/Shelby, Ohio) (10,000 meters) will head back to the NAIA Track Championships for the second time in their SSU careers. Shawnee State has also qualified a relay team for the first time in program history with the 4x800 team of Jeremy Hornick (JR/Johnstown, Ohio), Kyle Dyer (SO/Grove City, Ohio), Donovan Wonacott (SO/Grove City, Ohio) and Taylor Conn (JR/Ashville, Ohio).
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Men's track & field ran its final meet before the NAIA Championships this past Thursday and Friday at the Dr. Keeler Invitational on the campus of North Central College. In total, 10 different individuals entered in five different events had one last chance to improve their NAIA qualifying times.
WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – Men's track & field claimed five titles and scored a program-record 123 points during a fourth-place performance at the 2014 Mid-South Conference Track & Field Championships. In total, the Bears received 19 scoring performances as it matched the best team finish in program history.
PORTSMOUTH – Men's track & field placed four members of its team on the Mid-South Conference All-Academic team as announced by conference officials. To be eligible for this honor, a student-athlete must be in at least sophomore academic standing and hold a GPA of 3.25 or higher. The four student-athletes named to the All-Academic team marks the most of any year in program history.
PORTSMOUTH – Men's track & field claimed two event titles and scored a team-best 99 points in its fourth place finish during last year's Mid-South Conference Championships. Shawnee State will be looking to improve upon those marks this season when the Bears trek to Williamsburg, Ky. for their fourth appearance at the conference championships which will run from Friday, April 25 through Saturday, April 26. The MSC Track Championships will be hosted by the University of the Cumberlands.
