CHARLESTON, WV (Outdoor Track & Field) – Both teams provided strong finishes, as the men and women clinched third place overall on Saturday afternoon at the University of Charleston Stadium.
CHARLOTTE, NC (Outdoor Track & Field) – Both the men's and women's team performed well when the Bears traveled to North Carolina on Friday afternoon for the 49er Invitational, hosted by UNC Charlotte at Irwin Belk Track.
The women were led by Sarah Biehl (SR/Lowell, Ohio), who finished second overall in the women's 5000M with a time of 17:07. Biehl's time broke the Shawnee State record by nearly 17 seconds, and landed the senior with an A-cut time for NAIA Nationals. The time is also the best in the NAIA to this point in the season.
PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Outdoor Track & Field) – SSU's men and women track teams have individual and team success Saturday at the Golden Eagle Invitational.
The Men's team found success in the form of Cody Redman, winning the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:53, Parker Blain and David Jaeger finished fourth and fifth in the event with times of 15:59 and 16:13. The Bears AJ Barber (2:02) and Matthew Cheeseman (2:03) finished fifth and sixth in the open 800. Will Doering finished fifth in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:22.
GULF SHORES, Ala. (Men's and Women's Track & Field) – The final day of the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships proved successful for the final three Shawnee State runners left to compete, as all three landed top 10 finishes to close out the weekend at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Bright and early in the morning in the first race of the day, Joe Stewart (SR/Crown City, Ohio) landed a sixth place finish – the highest of any SSU runner at the national meet this year – in the marathon, completing 26.2 mile trek in 2:38:15.50, just 14 seconds behind winner Arya Bahreini of Oklahoma City.
