2014 Schedule

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Volleyball) – Head volleyball coach Susan Shelton has released the 2014 volleyball schedule Wednesday. The Bears will compete in 15 home matches, nine bouts on the road and a pair of tournaments away from home.

Shawnee State opens the season at the Early Bird Tournament in Dearborn, Mich., versus Indiana University-South Bend on Aug. 22. They will face Lawrence Tech immediately following the first match. The next day, the Bears square off against host-squad University of Michigan-Dearborn and Madonna University to close out the classic.

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – Jake Snyder has been named Sports Information Director for Shawnee State, Athletic Director Jeff Hamilton announced Monday.

In his role at Shawnee State, Snyder will oversee all media relations for the Bears' 13 sports, while also serving as the game operations manager for SSU home events.

Women's Basketball - Thu, Jul. 3, 2014

Jeff Nickel has been appointed head coach of Shawnee State University's Women's Basketball Team after serving as interim head coach for the 2013-14 season following the retirement of Coach Robin Hagen-Smith who led the SSU Bears for 30 years.

"Our women's basketball program has a long-standing tradition of excellence and we look to Jeff to continue that tradition," Jeff Hamilton, SSU Athletic Director, said. "Jeff's dedication to this team and our student athletes over the years has helped to advance our program. His ability to recruit and bring top-level talent to Shawnee State is critical to our continued success."

NAIA All-Americans

PORTSMOUTH – Derek Moore (FR/Wheelersburg, Ohio) added one final accolade to his standout first season with the Shawnee State baseball team as he was named a first-team All-American as announced by national officials. Moore becomes the second first-team All-American in program history as current student assistant Phillip Butler earned this same honor as a catcher during the 2011 season. The only other pitcher to earn All-American recognition was Jason Burcham, who was named an honorable mention All-American during the 2000 season.

2014 Schedule

PORTSMOUTH – Women's soccer has announced its 2014 schedule. The 2014 slate will include seven varsity home dates on the 17-game regular season schedule. Shawnee State will also be hosting an Alumnae Game where former players can scrimmage the 2014 Shawnee State team as part of the University's Alumni Weekend.
