Men's Basketball - Sat, Nov. 22, 2014

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Men's Basketball) – Devon Carter (JR/Clayton, Ohio) sunk three free throws with five seconds remaining to put the Shawnee State men's basketball team ahead 58-57 – the first SSU lead in more than 12 minutes – but Cumberland University's DeMario Frazier played foil to a Bear victory, sinking a desperation three-pointer as time expired to send Shawnee State to a 60-58 defeat on Saturday afternoon at Frank & Janis Waller Gymnasium.

Women's Basketball - Sat, Nov. 22, 2014

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Women's Basketball) –  The Shawnee State women's basketball team faced foul trouble throughout the contest, as the Bears shot just 27.6 percent in the second half in a 64-54 defeat at the hands of Cumberland University to take its first loss of the season on Saturday afternoon at Frank & Janis Waller Gymnasium.

SSU faced foul trouble amongst the forwards for the entire contest, as Rebecca Bruner (SR/Springfield, Ohio) and Erin Dailey (SR/Kingston, Ohio) got into trouble early in the second half. Bruner finished the game with four fouls, while Erin Dailey fouled out with just over a minute to play.

Women's Cross Country - Sat, Nov. 22, 2014

LAWRENCE, Kan. (Women's Cross Country) – The Shawnee State women's cross country team placed three runners in the top 100 – Sarah Biehl (JR/Lowell, Ohio) finished in a team-best 23rd – as the Bears finished 12th as a team at the 59th Annual NAIA National Championship at Rim Rock Farm on Thursday afternoon.

Biehl crossed the finish line in a time of 18:28.3, less than a second behind two others, and just a minute and a half behind British Columbia's Maria Bernard, the individual champion. Anna Havranek (FR/Sugarcreek, Ohio) followed in 73rd, with a time of 19:10.8 in the 5,000 meter race.

Men's Cross Country - Sat, Nov. 22, 2014

LAWRENCE, Kan. (Men's Cross Country) – Joe Stewart (SR/Crown City, Ohio) paced the men's cross country team with a 74th place finish, as the Bears completed the NAIA National Championship in 17th place, overall out of 36 squads at the national meet at Rim Rock Farm on Saturday afternoon.

Stewart completed the 8,000 meter race in a time of 26:09.5, to cross the finish line in 74th. Will Doering (JR/Grove City, Ohio) followed soon after, finishing in 26:18.1, for an 83rd place finish.

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Men's and Women's Cross Country) – The Shawnee State men's and women's cross country teams are no strangers to the nation stage. On Saturday, when the squads head out to the course in Lawrence, Kan., for the NAIA National Championship, the Bears bring six-straight years of experience on the men's side and four-straight from the women at the NAIA's premier event.
