PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Men's Soccer) – Joseph Webster (SR/Kendal, Cumbria United Kingdom) notched a pair of goals in the first half and added another in the second to lead the Shawnee State men's soccer team to a season-opening, 3-0, victory over Ohio Valley University on Tuesday afternoon at Shawnee Turf.

Webster connected first in the 12th minute on a header that slipped past the OVU (0-1) keeper. The goal came off an assist from Ben Pulsford (JR/Slough, England).

Women's Soccer - Wed, Aug. 27, 2014 at 11:40 AM

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Women's Soccer) – Shawnee State scored four goals in the opening half, including a pair from Maddie Woodard (FR/Camden, Ohio) as the Bears cruised to a 4-0 victory over Ohio Valley University to open the season at Shawnee Turf on Tuesday.

The victory marked the 100th in program history, the 71st from current head coach Rob Appell.

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Volleyball) – It took the Shawnee State volleyball just three sets to earn its third victory of the season, defeating Mount Vernon Nazarene 25-23, 25-19, 25-20 Tuesday evening at Waller Gymnasium.

The Bears also won an exhibition match over Columbus State in a five-set thriller during the tri-match later in the evening.
