PORTSMOUTH – Baseball scored in all but one inning to route Ohio University-Lancaster in its home finale Wednesday evening. The Bears (31-21) scored 15 times in total, while conceding just a pair of runs in the eighth inning. Shawnee State will now close out the regular season on the road this weekend with a weekend business trip to St. Catharine.

BARDSTOWN, Ky. – Josh Zornes (SO/Ironton, Ohio) continued his solid play at the Mid-South Conference Championships and finds himself in third place overall with 18 holes to play. Zornes shot 1-over on Tuesday and sits at even par for the tournament. He is just two shots behind the University of the Cumberlands' Michal Pospisil and a single stroke behind Lindsey Wilson's Chris Butler for second place overall.

MSC Release

PORTSMOUTH – Baseball swept the Mid-South Conference weekly awards as Derek Moore (FR/Wheelersburg, Ohio) was named the MSC Pitcher of the Week, while Dustin Bickmeyer (SR/O'Fallon, Mo.) was the MSC Player of the Week. Moore wins the MSC Pitcher of the Week for the third time in his freshman campaign. He is the only pitcher in the conference to win this award on three occasions. Bickmeyer wins his first career Player of the Week honor.

PORTSMOUTH – Baseball used shutdown pitching and some power at the plate to sweep Ohio Christian in a doubleheader on Monday afternoon. With the two victories, the Bears (30-21) have now won 30 games in a season for the eighth time in program history. The win was also career win No. 200 for Head Coach Ted Tom.

PORTSMOUTH – Softball split its doubleheader with the University of the Cumberlands on Monday afternoon. After the Patriots (13-26, 10-16 MSC) took the first game in extra innings with a 5-2 win in the ninth, the Bears (24-17, 16-14 MSC) bounced back with a 9-1 run-rule shortened victory in six innings to earn the daily split.
