PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Men's Soccer) – The Shawnee State men's soccer team fought through a driving rain storm and a two-goal deficit to score a pair in the second half before Martyn Sayer (SO/Liverpool, England) brought the game to a close with a nifty finish in the second overtime, as the Bears took a 3-2 victory over Bluefield College on Tuesday at Shawnee Turf.

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Men's and Women's Soccer) – Last Saturday, the Shawnee State men's and women's soccer teams took the field for a doubleheader that was about much more than the action between the lines. The two squads – donning bright orange warm-ups, orange tape and orange wristbands – were playing in the 5th Annual Robert N. Appell II Kick for Crohn's game.

The namesake of the special day comes from the father of women's head coach Rob Appell, who passed away in December 2008 following a 40-year battle with Crohn's disease, a chronic – ongoing – disorder that causes inflammation of the digestive or gastrointestinal tract.
