Women's Basketball - Mon, Nov. 17, 2014

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Women's Basketball) – Shawnee State women's basketball player Tabby McKinney (SR/Canton, Ohio) has been named the Mid-South Conference women's basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.

The senior guard averaged 17.0 points in a pair of conference victories this week, adding an average of 12.5 boards for the double-double. McKinney, in fact, recorded a double-double in both games. She added seven assists and four steals during the two contests, hitting 13-of-30 shots along the way.

Volleyball - Mon, Nov. 17, 2014

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Volleyball) – Six Shawnee State volleyball players have been named to the Mid-South Conference All-Academic squad, the conference office announced last week.

The award was given to student-athletes of at least sophomore status, who achieved a grade point average of 3.25 or highter. Seniors Devan Scarberry (SR/Franklin Furnace, Ohio) and Kristi Humble (SR/West Jefferson, Ohio), junior Madison Smith (JR/Orrville, Ohio) and sophomores Bonnie Huesing (SO/Mason, Ohio), Brittany Mounts (SO/Beaver, Ohio) and Rhyanna Day (SO/Beaver, Ohio) each received the honor for the Bears.

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Women's Soccer) – Six members of the Shawnee State women's soccer team have been named to the Mid-South Conference All-Academic squad, the conference office announced last week.

The honor was awarded to any student-athlete of at least sophomore status, who attained a grade point average of 3.25 or higher. Jessica Fair (JR/Negley, Ohio), Schuyler Jones (JR/Ramnicu Valcea, Romania), Erin Phillips (JR/Mount Sterling, Ohio), Leslie Marsh (SO/Springboro, Ohio), Haley Ruggles (SR/Wheelersburg, Ohio) and Tasha Wilson (JR/Kettering, Ohio) were the honorees for the Bears.

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Athletics News) – Shawnee State Athletics is now accepting nominations for its Hall of Fame Class of 2015. The Class of 2015 will be inducted during the University's Homecoming Weekend. The official Homecoming Game is set for Saturday, Jan. 24, 2014 versus Campbellsville University. In preparation for this event, we are asking for nominations of deserving candidates. Criteria for membership into Shawnee State's Hall of Fame are listed below.

Men's Basketball - Sat, Nov. 15, 2014

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (Men's Basketball) – Andrew Bendolph (SR/Portsmouth, Ohio) scored team-high 11 points and Nick Tingle (JR/Clayton, Ohio) grabbed nine rebounds, but the Shawnee State men's basketball team came up just short of an upset victory, falling 66-60 at the hands of the University of the Cumberlands on Saturday night at the O. Wayne Rollins Center.

Shawnee State trailed by eight points at the break, but came back to tie the contest in the second half. The Bears held the Cumberlands to just 33.3 percent shooting in the second half.
