PORTSMOUTH, OHIO (Women's Soccer) – Jenny Campbell scored three times and Maddie Woodard added a pair, as the Shawnee State women's soccer team boasted six goals en route to a 6-4 victory over the University of the Cumberlands to open Mid-South Conference play on Saturday afternoon at Shawnee Turf.

The Patriots (0-5) took almost no time getting on the scoreboard, as Hannah Starner found a well-placed ball right at her feet inside the box and buried it in the back of the net to give UC a 1-0 advantage.

WEST PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Women's Cross Country) – Emily Richmond (SR/Cincinnati, Ohio) crossed the finish line in 18:43 and six straight Shawnee State women followed, as the Bears earned a victory in the 16th Annual Shawnee State Invitational to open the season at Earl Thomas Conley Riverside Park on Friday evening.

Men's Cross Country - Fri, Sep. 12, 2014

WEST PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Men's Cross Country) – Joe Stewart (SR/Crown City, Ohio), Cody Redman (FR/Circleville, Ohio), Parker Blain (FR/Marietta, Ohio) and Nick McAfee (SO/Georgetown, Ohio) each finished in the top four, as the No. 7 Shawnee State men's cross country team opened the season with a win at its namesake race, the 16th Annual Shawnee State Invitational at Earl Thomas Conley Riverside Park on Friday evening.

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Baseball) – Shawnee State University head baseball coach Chris Moore is pleased to announce October 11th as the date for the 8th Annual Fall Prospect Showcase. The showcase will be held at Branch Rickey Park in Portsmouth, Ohio and be conducted by the SSU coaching staff directly. Cost for the camp is $80 for individual players and is open to everyone.

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Volleyball) – Tiffany Jackson (SR/Williamstown, N.J.) recorded a team-high seven kills and Paige Zelich (SR/Grove City, Ohio) added five, but the Shawnee State volleyball team hit just .078 as a squad en route to a 3-0 (25-23, 25-11, 25-17) defeat at the hands of the No. 22-ranked Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders at Frank & Janis Waller Gymnasium.

Lindsey Wilson (12-2, 1-0 Mid-South) started the opening set at a lightning pace as a pair of service aces from Yennifer Ramirez and kills from Nadelina Nesheva and Sarah Shilling elevated the visitor to a 7-2 advantage.
